Steelers’ Mike Adams Didn’t Defer Signing Bonus
When OT Mike Adams was drafted by the Steelers in the 2nd round of the draft, many were shocked with the pick since he had tested positive for marijuana at the combine. Typically, the Steelers stay away from players with “character issues”. It was widely reported that Adams requested a meeting with general manager Kevin Colbert, Art Rooney II and coach Mike Tomlin to express his remorse and regret and offered to defer his signing bonus among other stipulations in order get back in the Steelers’ good graces. According to ESPN, deferring his signing bonus was not one of the stipulations, and Adams received a $1 million signing bonus when signed his contract with the team.
