Report: Steelers Will Exhaust All Options to Move up in Draft to Select Mike Pouncey

The NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora is reporting that a league source has told him that the Steelers “will exhaust all realistic possible scenarios to trade up for Florida’s Mike Pouncey.”

The source apparently added that Mike Tomlin has “given an edict to his personnel department to explore all realistic trade options for Pouncey, and to be prepared to acquire him should he start to slip”.

While this sounds like it could be good news, we would be very cautious. The whole thing sounds a bit out of character for the Steelers and could just be some mis-information planted before the draft. While it is not unheard of for the Steelers to trade up in the first round, it is rare and the team hardly ever puts all or nothing edicts on acquiring any particular player.
